Three answers to the questions the chapter hears most often.
No. Most chapter programmes begin with a session that assumes nothing beyond curiosity, and the lecture series, reading groups and community workshops are all designed for newcomers. Where a programme does have a prerequisite, such as the systems integration teams, the chapter says so clearly in advance and offers a preparatory session so that nobody is caught out.
The lecture series, reading groups and community workshops are free. Contests are free to enter and the chapter provides loaner machines to teams that need them. Integration projects are delivered without charge to community organisations, though the chapter welcomes donations that help cover equipment and materials.

Volunteers are matched with a mentor for their first season and are never asked to lead a session before they feel ready. Many members begin by helping with room setup or note taking and grow into teaching roles.
